Nederland, Colorado:

Nederland is 17 miles west, and 3000 feet above the city of Boulder. It's the largest town on the nationally designated 'Peak-to-Peak Scenic Byway'. This is the main access road for many Forest Service recreational opportunities including campgrounds, picnic areas, hiking trails, and the Indian Peaks and James Peak Wilderness Areas. Stop and visit some of the old mining towns of the past still thriving with small town activity, or explore the beauty of Rocky Mountain National Park where the wildlife outnumber the residents. It runs more than 50 miles from Black Hawk / Central City to Estes Park, and provides spectacular close-up views of the Continental Divide. Open year 'round, it's often the star attraction when the Aspen trees turn to gold in the autumn. Nederland is served by regularly scheduled daily RTD bus service to and from Boulder. The history of the area was built on mining, primarily gold, silver, and tungsten, and now is a destination for those seeking outdoor recreation, the quiet beauty of the mountains, and a slower, small town community life.

Four Seasons Resort
Summers in Nederland are popular for tourists. The cool mountain air is soothing and revitalizing and a perfect environment for those wishing to hike, bike, horse back ride, or just escape the heat.
In the fall of the year thousands of visitors flock to the area to view the spectacular vistas of golden aspens that blanket the nearby hillsides. Fall is also an excellent time for hiking and biking with days that are usually dry and warm.
Winter visitors come to cross-country ski or snowshoe in the back country, or to ski and snowboard at Eldora Mountain Resort just five miles from town.
Spring is the perfect time to view the many hillsides and meadows that are literally bathed in wildflowers. From the relatively common Indian Paintbrush to the quite rare Calipso Orchid, many photo and day hike opportunitites abound.

A good first stop and source for information is the Nederland Visitors Center operated by the Nederland Area Chamber of Commerce. You can visit their website or the Visitor Center located in the center of downtown just south of the traffic circle.
